The lone maverick
If you have been enjoying the #FutureofLaw Lab, I’d love for you to use this button to share it via email or Social.
As always, I love feedback and learning from different people and experiences - so if you’d like to strike up a conversation with me just hit reply in your inbox or reach out on LinkedIn.
Now, let’s continue our journey into the #futureoflaw…
Such a peculiar thing; the lone maverick, the silence masks the great ruckus in the mind,
Waiting impatiently to be tasked; to unleash a great outpouring,
You see, creativity is the variable, it is the wildcard,
The lone maverick wields it like a sword, one he must carry at all times,
It is his gift, and his burden,
It is his adornment, part of his identity,
What makes others fit in, sets him apart:
He translates the unlimited potential, setting a path for you to take,
And when his work is done, he must do for others as he has done for you,
The greatest gift is an audience, he cherishes the very thought,
But what we love we must let go,
Those waiting to receive are calling.
Creativity is the variable.
We can all potentially gain the same qualification, the same levels of experience through time. The wildcard we hold will always be our creativity; what novelty and interest we can inspire. Creativity allows people to see something differently, and when mastered, to use things differently.
“Tried and true” doesn't have a place in an environment where you look to stand out. When the very foundations you built your castle on shakes, “tried and true” is being displaced.
Treasure your creativity, and value the creativity of those who would translate unlimited possibility into a tangible way forward. Creatives hold a bridge between worlds: it is after all, an alternative way.
And so Creatives may never “fit in” so don't expect it of them, but always listen and respect the gift of perspective they bring.
Sure enough, they will do amazing things for you, but they will be called to fulfill the needs of others. They must keep moving.
Ask yourself: what must they see to be so ready to head back on the trail?
Perhaps they see something that beckons them forward, so irresistible as to limit the time they enjoy your hospitality.
Creatives do not seek pleasantries. They see beauty in the struggle, and have set for themselves a peak. Do not be concerned to compare your offering with it, but rather seek to help them on their way as they have done for you.
Some people seek refuge in a home, some seek refuge in acceptance, some are grateful for the audience as they seek the intangible.
Take a look around and with time you will note the difference; when you see it - in others and in yourself - it may convince you of which game you wish to play.
A little sprinkle of creativity, and in that same vein i’d like to share with you my new website:
I’ve taken the time to crystalise the current phase of my journey and what I offer the various stakeholders in the Legal Industry, particularly Legal Service Providers and Legal Tech into a focused website.
You may notice the Regulators and Institutions missing in the offerings but rest assured my advisory work and bespoke business partnerships cover those projects. If you are part of a Regulatory body, Court system or Educational Institution feel free to contact me to explore how FutureLab.Legal can support your efforts.
Ultimately, you can always reach out regardless of where in the Industry you hail from. This website is a home for me and our conversation will be a starting point for the #futureoflaw. The door is always open for you.
As always, the future of law is in our hands 🔥
